A new colorful rug will instantly transform your place into something different and will open doors to new colors and accent pieces.
New accent pillows and throws will brighten and change the mood of a room right away, while A bright floor lamp will set the right atmosphere with the flick of a switch.

Changing up some more prevalent items will make a more noticeable difference. Maybe it is a good time to get that new coffee table you've been dreaming about for a long time. 
You can even get a big floor vase for where the Christmas tree would normally stand, and fill it with some branches or fresh greens. Just remember, life goes on and you can always try for a better tomorrow!
