Working from home has been a growing trend in the past years. But now, since this pandemic, people have been forced to work from home, creating an increase in the need for dedicated work spaces and home offices. In order to promote productivity, a well designed home office should be situated away from other living areas; provide good flow; lighting; and be comfortable with a large working space. Here are 5 things to consider when designing your home office space:
- LOCATION: Designate a room or private corner in your home to allow for you to work away from the hustle-and-bustle of busy home activities.
- DESK and CHAIR: Think about work flow. Having a desk with ample work surface and a great chair with ergonomically correct comfort seating, will allow you to work productively.
- LIGHTING: Making sure your home office has plenty of light helps to cut down on eye strain which can lead to exhaustion and headaches. A small desk lamp is great for task lighting.
- ORGANIZATION: Bookshelves and cabinets with drawers for hanging folders, will provide both vertical and horizontal organization solutions. This is especially useful in small spaces.
- STYLE: Adding personal touches such as wall art, homey accessories, and cherished photos are a great way to reflect your own personal style as well as keep you motivated, relaxed, and inspired.
Depending on our needs, a home office can be used for many hours each day if working from home, or just as a quite place to go thru correspondence and pay bills. Regardless, whether working from home is a temporary situation, or is now our ‘NEW NORMAL’, don’t we all deserve a home office that is both functional and beautiful??
