We all have aches and pains that nag us every day. From our heads all the way down to our toes, we suffer through until we start to think about what is actually causing the pain to begin with. People put blame on the usual reasons like old age, bad shoes, working too hard, stress and other typical excuses. And while these could all be contributing to our aches and pains, most of us tend to overlook one of the main causes… Sleeping on a bad mattress!
When you finally figure out that you might be in need of a new mattress, would you know how to go about choosing the right mattress for you? Here are a few tips on how to shop for a mattress that might help.
- Ask yourself, “what do I like about my current mattress and what do I not like about my current mattress?” Make sure the features of your new mattress have your likes and don’t have your dislikes.
- When you visit a store ask to deal with the “mattress expert”.
- Understand what a mattress is supposed to do for you! If the store or sales associate you are dealing with can’t explain this to you, stay away.
- Make sure the store or sales associate can explain why the mattress you want to buy does what a mattress is supposed to do for you.
- Lay down on the mattress! Take your time in the showroom to remove your coat and take as much time as you need testing it out. You will know immediately if you do not like a mattress, get up and move to the next one.
- Firm, medium, soft, these words mean different things to different people. Don’t go by what other people say. Feel it for yourself!
- When you finally decide on the right mattress for you, make sure your sales associate can tell you how the new mattress will fit into your existing bed and if you might require an upgraded frame or slat system for your old bed.
Remember, there is always a period of time that is required to get used to your new mattress, considering that you may have been sleeping on your old one for many years. Once you adjust you should start to see that your aches, pains and stresses will be reduced because you are finally allowing your body to relax at night.
Decorium’s experts are happy to educate you and fit you to the right mattress. Don’t just buy what other stores are trying to sell you! Like a good pair of shoes, your mattress must fit properly.
Sleep better, feel better!
