Decisions Decisions! Stop finding yourself lost in a sea of sofas and read these tips on finding the perfect sectional.
Measure: To determine the best size sectional for your home, the first thing to decide is where you want to place it. If you choose to situate it by a wall with a window, the sofa should not be very high. If you're putting it by a long wall, you may want to consider a large model. It is also important to consider the height of your family members and house mates. While small supports are great for shorter people, they will not be as comfortable for someone tall; and vice versa.
Type modular: Picking the type of configuration you want is dependent on many factors, like the occupancy of your home, how often you have guests over, the size of your rooms/doorways and halls... etc. Typically sectionals are two or more seats, with a corner or chaise. It can be configured according to the available space, so it is important to have a floor plan to find the best solution. For small rooms we recommend the L-shaped sofas, and for large rooms, the U form.
Upholstery: We recommend fabrics resistant to abrasions and easy to maintain. The most common materials used are leather, cotton or synthetic fibers. Leather never goes out of style, but fabric offers more possibilities for designs and colours. Another material commonly used is PU. Considered as ecological, it's made with polyurethane and surpluses from leather-making process. It has a smooth texture and is highly resistant to light and breakage. It is more similar to natural leather than PVC.
Style: The style you choose should represent your taste and personality. The sectional should be combined with or complement the other accents and accessories in the room. Most popular are classic or modern style sofas. The classic sectionals have curved lines, both on the back and arms, while modern sofas have straight lines and lower arms. Both easily transcend and mesh with a variety of home design concepts and living space styles.
Value and quality: We all want to keep our furniture for a long time, especially sectionals, so when we make the decision to buy a piece we must pay attention to this aspect. You will not save money by purchasing a cheap sectional with low quality materials. You will save money by spending it! Good quality furniture lasts longer, so you end up pay less in the long run. When shopping, ask about the materials that are used to make what you're looking at, then research them when you go home. This will allow you to understand the type of material that best suits your needs. That way, when you see something you're interested in, you'll know what to expect when you bring it home. Also ask about guarantees before you say yes to that sectional; you may just save yourself from a future headache.
Colour: To decide on a colour, you have to think about the rest of your furniture, the colour of the walls, curtains, carpets, etc. for that room. It is useful to bring pictures or samples of fabrics and colors from your room. It will be much easier for the designers to advise appropriately, which assists in the certainty of your choice. Neutral colours combine easily while stripes are more stylized. As for patterns, they work best in large and bright spaces.
