More and more these days we are seeing home décor move away from having photos and art work randomly scattered across walls and table tops. One design trend that’s building major momentum is having
Gallery Walls. Whether large or small, Gallery Walls can define your style as well as create a focal point. To enable you and your friends to best enjoy viewing your Gallery Wall, a good rule of thumb is that the center of your display should be at eye level, approximately 66” off the floor. Although the process of building a Gallery Wall can be fun, it does take time and patience to do it right. Here are a few helpful step-by-step tips that can guide you in creating your very own gorgeous Gallery Wall:
- Find The Right Wall:
- Decide where you want to display your pieces. This can be an entire wall; over a piece of furniture; or up a staircase.
- Get Your Inspiration:
- determine your Gallery Wall style
- pick your favourite photos and prints
- choose frames with similar colour and finishes for a clean, classic look
- mixing it up with photos, prints, and wall décor in a variety of colours, shapes, and finishes for an eclectic, dramatic look
- make it personal; choose pieces and moments you love; add vintage finds

- Lay It Out:
- think about placement
- start with larger pieces in the centre and build out from there
- have fun with the layout; there is no specific formula
- lay paper on a clean floor to mock out your layout
- Mock Up On Wall:
- once you’re satisfied with the layout, trace pieces on the appropriate size paper
- cut out the shapes and tape them to the wall, copying your floor layout
- a couple perks of doing this is that you can mark and place nails where they will go, and easily make last minute changes to your layout before final placement
- Hang It:
- use frame hangers versus wall hangers; these are much sturdier. This is especially important when hanging heavier pieces.
- ENJOY!!
- step back and admire your beautiful new GALLERY WALL!

So there you have it – Creative…Fun…and Totally, Uniquely You!!!
